Back in Summer 2024, I was gifted some chunky wool yarn of various offcuts and colours; the perfect amalgamation to make a lovely, chunky, patchwork cardigan.

For this project, I challenged myself by knitting the panels as a whole instead of creating individual squares and sewing them together. Pre-planning was imperative for this skill, especially when deciding which squares would go next to each other. It took some time to adjust—especially while managing five different balls of yarn—but it’s definitely a technique I’ll be using from now on.
This project also helped me refine my gauge. I realised that I naturally knit quite tightly, which is something I need to keep in mind, especially when working with less stretchy fibres like wool.
One of my favourite details is the mismatched buttons, a signature touch of mine. Though, it did make me realise just how low my button stash is now!
